Immigration Reform

We must all have the opportunity to access resources and thrive without fear of persecution.

  • We can improve the lives of thousands of Oregonians who immigrated from
elsewhere by simply upholding current state laws, such as ORS 181 A.820
    “Enforcement of Federal Immigration Laws.”
» Law enforcement agencies, prosecutors’ offices, probation offices, and other state
agencies will create policies that make it clear to staff where contacting ICE would
go beyond the scope of their duties and result in punitive measures.
» Prohibit the disclosure of one’s immigration status in court.
  • Protect all of our workers
» Provide all workers with at least a $15 minimum wage, protections for collective
bargaining, workers’ rights, workplace safety, and fair scheduling no matter one’s
    documented status.
» Require employers to provide protective gear and respiratory equipment to
agricultural workers working in conditions affected by smoke and wildfires.
  • We will continue to support labor protections on wages, housing and government
    oversight.
  • We support a path to immigration status and citizenship for undocumented
    farmworkers.
  • We support the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program and will
work in collaboration with our federal partners to push for federal legislation on DACA
    Plus.
» We condemn any effort towards criminalizing young people in the DACA program.
  • Bills we support during 2022 Legislative Session:
    » HB 4086 – Worker’s Compensation and Modernization
    » SB 1513 – Forced Overtime
    » SB 1543 – Universal Representation Program
    » SB 1586 – Discrimination and Non-disclosure Agreements
» HB 4002 – Overtime for Agricultural Workers
    » HB 4005 – Childcare Investments
